How reliable is a data center? Its tier tells you.
The Tier I–IV classification was introduced by the American Uptime Institute and is now an internationally recognized benchmark for data center reliability. The higher the tier, the more redundant components a data center has and the less downtime per year it allows.
Level 1 of 4
Tier I
Availability
99.671%
Max. downtime approx. 28.8 h / year
Basic infrastructure without redundant components. Operations stop during maintenance.
Who it’s for
Smaller companies without critical systems
Level 2 of 4
Tier II
Availability
99.741%
Max. downtime approx. 22 h / year
Redundant components (UPS, generators, cooling), but a single distribution path.
Who it’s for
Companies that can tolerate a short outage
Level 3 of 4
Tier III
Most common choice
Availability
99.982%
Max. downtime approx. 1.6 h / year
Multiple independent power and cooling paths. Maintenance happens without interrupting operations.
Who it’s for
Most companies with critical applications
Level 4 of 4
Tier IV
Availability
99.995%
Max. downtime approx. 26 min / year
Everything is duplicated and physically separated. No single failure can disrupt operations.
Who it’s for
Banks, telecommunications, critical infrastructure

We’ll build your data center to the tier you need
- We design Tier I–IV to match the availability your systems require
- N+1 or 2N power redundancy depending on the chosen tier
- Independent power circuits, UPS and diesel generators
- Redundant cooling and distribution with maintenance during full operation (Tier III and up)
We choose the right tier based on how much downtime your business can afford. For critical systems, we also design High Availability / Disaster Recovery solutions that connect multiple sites.
The higher the tier, the shorter the downtime
Maximum annual downtime according to the Uptime Institute classification
Tier III allows 18× less downtime than Tier I

AI data centers
Infrastructure ready for artificial intelligence
Enterprise AI is moving out of the public cloud and back under companies’ control. The reasons are sensitive data, costs and regulatory requirements. That’s why you need computing power where your data stays under your control.
AI applications place far higher demands on infrastructure than ordinary servers. They need graphics accelerators (GPUs), fast storage, a high-performance network and much more power and cooling per rack.
An AI zone tailored to you
We design the AI zone around your workloads – power per rack, type of cooling (liquid or air) and the GPU platform, including NVIDIA solutions.

FAQ
What tier does my company need?
It depends on how much downtime you can afford. For most companies with critical applications, Tier III makes sense. We’ll prepare a recommendation for you after a short consultation.
Can you build our entire data center?
Yes. As a general contractor, we deliver the data center from A to Z – together with our construction partners, from power, liquid cooling and heat recovery all the way to IT infrastructure and support.
Can we run AI in our own environment instead of the cloud?
Yes. We’ll design infrastructure to run your AI models, and your data stays under your control.
Do you also service older equipment?
Yes. We offer our own post-warranty service, even for equipment the manufacturer no longer supports.
